COVID-19 hospitalizations in Utah continue to decline, 300 new cases added


SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – The Utah Department of Health is reporting 300 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, May 21.

There are 10 new deaths linked to the virus, including nine before April 21, 2021.

A total of 403,984 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19.

A total of 2,658,131 people were tested. This is an increase of 4,321 people tested since yesterday.

The UDOH reports that 4,857,128 tests were performed in total, an increase of 8,851 tests since yesterday.

A total of 2,482,804 vaccines were administered, or 18,716 more than yesterday.

The 7-day moving average for positive tests is 284 per day.

The 7-day moving average of the percentage of positivity of “people to people” is 6.4%. The 7-day moving average of the percentage of “test-to-test” positivity is 3.4%.

There are currently 136 people hospitalized for COVID-19. The total number of hospitalizations since the start of the epidemic is 16,638.

Officials report a total of 2,289 deaths.

The Utah Department of Health announced changes in Utah’s COVID-19 transmission index on February 12. They entered into force from Thursday, February 18.
