Buckeye local school district superintendent Kim Leonard resigned at Tuesday’s board of education meeting.
Board chair April Ogden said the resignation was effective immediately. According to a statement released by the board, “She (Leonard) will assist the board in the transition to an interim superintendent. The board would like to thank Kim for her service to the district and wish her the best for the future.
Scott Celestin, Deputy Superintendent, will act as Acting Superintendent until the Board appoints a replacement.
“He has been with us for many years. He’s also been acting superintendent for us in the past and he’s done pretty well, ”Ogden said.
Ogden said they would start receiving applications soon, but did not specify a date when the board will hire someone to fill the position.
Leonard, who was hired as district superintendent in May 2017, could not be reached for comment.
