PROVO, Utah – The second all-time meeting between BYU and USF takes place tonight at LaVell Edwards Stadium. This will be the first time BYU has hosted the Bulls in Provo.

The first clash between the two schools took place in 2019. It was a game where USF upset BYU 27-23. Since this shocking result, the two programs have gone in different directions.

BYU is 19-3 since that loss to USF. Head coach Kalani Sitake got two contract extensions during that time. USF, on the other hand, only earned one other victory against an FBS team.

—Jaren Hall did not dress in the pre-game warm-ups. Baylor Romney will start at QB.

—NT Atunaisa Mahe dated DE Tyler Batty.

—Alema Pilimai, Jacob Palu, Alden Tofa are all dressed for tonight along the defensive line.

—Former BYU great basketball player Danny Ainge is here in the press box. Jimmer Fredette and the rest of the BYU 2021 Athletics Hall of Fame are honored tonight.

—BYU safety linebacker George Udo is dressed for the first time this season.

– USF DA Michael Kelly called Tom Holmoe “one of the nicest people in college sport.”

—The official kick-off time is 8:25 pm (MT). Yeah.

BYU enters the game ranked # 15 nationally in the AP Top 25 poll and # 16 in coaches. The Cougars are the only team in the country to start the fourth week with an unbeaten record against all Power Five competitions. USF will be the first non-Power Five team to face BYU this season.

USF, coached by second-year head coach Jeff Scott, is 1-2. Their only victory came last week against Florida A&M. The Bulls played one of the toughest non-conference programs in the country against NC State and Florida.

One of the big intrigues of tonight entering tonight’s game is the availability of BYU quarterback Jaren Hall. Hall suffered a heavy fall last week in the win over Arizona State, and BYU coaches have been keeping close to the vest what his availability looks like going into this game against USF.

If Hall is not available to play, Baylor Romney or Jacob Conover will be available. Both quarterbacks were vying for the position of QB during the fall camp before the position was finally assigned to Hall towards the end of the camp.

BYU is looking to create some history tonight. With a win over USF, BYU would have its second straight unbeaten record before October. BYU has never done this in its history, and it’s a program that dates back to 1922.
