A man wanted for attempted murder after firing multiple shots Tuesday at a Mississippi apartment complex has been arrested.
Amanti Briscoe, 23, was arrested just before 8 a.m. Friday night after law enforcement was notified by Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers that he was at Waveview Place Apartments in Waveland.
Briscoe was wanted for firing at least eight shots at people outside the apartment complex building at 3199 Jackson Landing Road in Pearl River County.
Maj. Marc Ogden of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department said investigators received the call of the incident at 11:36 a.m. June 7. They arrived to find multiple bullet holes outside the one of the apartment buildings and an investigation determined that Briscoe allegedly got into an altercation with another resident of that area after that person allegedly took Briscoe’s narcotics.
So far, the investigation shows that because of the alleged robbery, Briscoe shot people outside the building. Ogden said the people he shot were not the same people who allegedly stole his narcotics. Asked about Briscoe’s motive for the shooting, Ogden said, “He has complete disregard for human life.”
As the investigation continued over the past two days, Ogden said the department had obtained enough probable cause and evidence to obtain an attempted murder warrant for Briscoe.
Ogden said he wanted to thank the Waveland Police Department, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and the Picayune Police Department for their assistance in this matter. Ogden also said he wanted to thank the community for providing information that led to Briscoe’s arrest.
