SOUTH SALT LAKE – A man was gunned down outside a strip club at 3420 S. State Street early Saturday and later died of his injuries, South Salt Lake police said.

Police responded to reports of shots fired at the Southern X-posure Showclub at around 12:11 a.m., according to South Salt Lake Police spokesperson Danielle Croyle. When officers arrived, a man in his mid-twenties was located and taken to hospital.

The man later died of his injuries, Croyle said.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are investigating. There was a heavy police presence in the 3400 S. State Street and 3400 South Main Street area early Saturday, but the roads were not blocked, Croyle added.

A man was seen fleeing the area but was not located at that time, according to Croyle. The description of the man is “limited and unconfirmed”.

“If anyone had seen or heard anything or could have even been in the facility tonight and could have the information, you are encouraged to call,” Croyle said in a video on Facebook.

Those wishing to report something suspicious or concerning can call 801-840-4000.

The identity of the man who was killed has not been disclosed.
