Man following women with large screwdriver arrested in Ogden

OGDEN, Utah – Ogden Police have arrested a man following two women with a large screwdriver in his hand.

An officer observed the man, later identified as Kelly Clark, 59, last Friday, partially walking down the road near the intersection of Riverdale Road and Washington Blvd.

He also saw a woman and a young girl walk past Clark who held a large screwdriver in his right hand, according to a probable cause statement.

The officer stopped nearby and asked Clark if he was okay, in an effort to distract him from the two women. The woman looked at the officer and shook her head.

The officer asked Clark to stop several times but he refused.

Other people were approaching on the sidewalk, so the officer yelled at them to go and pointed his gun at Clark.

He asked him why he had a screwdriver and Clark said “it was to kill” according to the affidavit.

The officer again told Clark to drop the gun, and at that point Clark turned to the officer, raised the gun to an aggressive stance and said he was going ” come towards me ”, indicates the statement of the PC.

The officer told Clark to drop the gun again and get down to the ground. Clark threw the knife in the street and sat down.

More units arrived and Clark was arrested.

He was detained on suspicion of a threat of aggravated assault with a show of force.

Because Clark has a long history of criminal offenses, and because the current felony is a felony, he was ordered to be held without bail.
