Obituary of Marion Sybrowsky (1929 – 2021) – Sandy, UT

Marion was born in Manti, Utah on June 8, 1929. She was the sweetheart of her family, being the youngest daughter of brothers Glade and Karl. After moving to Provo, Marion attended Provo High School and graduated from BYU.

Marion married Bob Dean in 1952 and had four children, Rebecca, Alison (Chris Anderson), Adrienne (Ryan Heinz) and Robert, who died at the age of 6. After their divorce, Marion taught home economics, including the boys’ first cooking classes. , at Highland High School. She loved her students and her career, retiring in 1993.

Eight years after her separation, she met Woody Sybrowsky and they married in 1971. They were happy and sociable together. Woody also had four children, Dennis (Carol), Roger (Lise), Kathleen and Layne (Jody); Marion encouraged a great alliance between families. She hosted Sunday dinners, where the grandchildren became members of the “clean plate club”, celebrated birthdays and became friends.

Woody passed away in 1994 and she continued to play a vital role in her family’s life. She played bridge and was a founding member of her study club, which started in 1958 and is still going strong today. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, teaching primarily in Relief Society; she felt free to stray from the textbook and often called her lessons “programs.”

Marion was an avid reader, made quilts and counted cross stitch projects, and loved attending the Pioneer Theater. She was a wonderful cook, expressing her boundless energy and love for others by creating and serving delicious dishes. She liked chocolate, Diet Coke and a good joke.

She lived in the same house in Holladay for 48 years; Two years ago, she moved to Crescent Senior Living in Sandy, where she passed away on Monday, December 7, 2021.

The funeral will be on Saturday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road in Sandy with a pre-visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens cemetery.
