Paris Hilton says she was sexually abused as a teenager at boarding school

Paris Hilton has opened up about the alleged abuse she allegedly faced as a teenager while attending Provo Canyon School, a therapeutic boarding school, in Utah.

Hilton claims she and other female students were subjected to ‘medical exams’ at ‘three or four in the morning’ by several staff members as part of an expose on the troubled teen industry published in the The New York Times tuesday.

“It wasn’t even with a doctor — it was with a few different staff members, where they would lay us down on the table and stick their fingers inside us,” Hilton said. “I don’t know what they were doing, but it definitely wasn’t a doctor.”

Holding back tears, Hilton added: “It was really scary and something that I had really blocked out for many years, but it comes up all the time now and I think about it. Now looking back as a adult, it was definitely sexual abuse.”

Following its publication, the Cooking with Paris star shared the article on his Twitter account and detailed the “cervical exams” she says she received in Provo.

“Sleep deprived and heavily medicated, I didn’t understand what was going on. I was forced to lie down on a padded table, spread my legs and undergo cervical exams,” he said. she writes. “I cried as they held me down and said, ‘No! They just said, ‘Shut up. Shut up. Stop struggling or you’ll go to the Obs.'”

Hilton added that it was “a recurring experience not just for me but for other survivors”, saying, “I was raped and I’m crying typing this because no one, especially a child, should be abused. sexually. My childhood was stolen from me and it’s killing me, it still happens to other innocent children.”

She continued, “It’s important to talk about these painful times so that I can heal and help end this abuse.”

A representative for Provo Canyon School responded to EW’s request for comment, pointing to a media statement on its website that notes that “Provo Canyon School was sold by its former owner in August 2000. We therefore cannot comment on operations or student experience prior to this time.”

Hilton attended Provo Canyon School in the 1990s. She first spoke about her experience there in her 2020 YouTube documentary It’s Paris. The school, which became the property of Universal Health Services in 2000, is described on its website as an “intensive psychiatric residential treatment center for young people.”

Since the documentary’s release, Hilton has continued to advocate for reform of children’s institutions. In October 2021, she urged congress to pass the Accountability for Congregate Care Act in an impassioned speech on Capitol Hill.

“I wish I could tell you that what I experienced and witnessed was unique or even rare, but sadly that’s not the case,” she said at the time. “Every day in America, children placed in congregate care facilities experience physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Children even die at the hands of those responsible for their care.”
