Salt Lake City strip club murder suspect arrested

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC4) – Salt Lake Police have made an arrest in a fatal shooting at a State Street strip club. Police arrested Romalice Latrell Williams, 36, for aggravated murder for the shooting.

Just after midnight on Saturday, police were called to 3420 South State Street with reference to a subject photographed. A man in his mid-twenties was located, received medical attention at the scene and transported to an area hospital. The victim was later declared deceased due to his injuries sustained.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

According to police reports, Williams committed an aggravated theft just before the shooting at the same location.

The involved vehicle was a 2007 BMW Gold sport utility vehicle, license plate U822UE, registered at an address in Murray, UT.

The shooting took place at Southern X-Posure. According to the club’s social media, the State Street location was celebrating its last night of operation, calling the night the night out “The Last Dance.”

Officers located the vehicle at around 2:30 p.m. at the Winter Homeless Shelter located at 1659 West North Temple in Salt Lake City. Williams had registered at the same homeless shelter. A woman responded to the homeless shelter to collect the vehicle after Williams called her to collect her vehicle there. The woman confirmed that Williams was in possession of a handgun when she encountered him there.

Williams was taken into custody at the homeless shelter. He claimed his name was Kendrick at the time of his arrest.

A warrant to search Williams’ room was served and a handgun was found in the room. The handgun was of the same caliber as the used cartridge cases found at the club. Police discovered the handgun was stolen in Eureka, Colo.

Several ounces of what appeared to be bath salts were found in the room along with an amount of field tested marijuana.

The clothes he was seen wearing in the surveillance footage were found
inside his room.

Salt Lake Police thank everyone who provided information leading to an arrest.
