SALT LAKE CITY – Four men accused of taking turns sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Midvale now face serious criminal charges that carry possible prison sentences.
Christian Nkunda-Makoma, 25, of West Valley City; Aime Byuma, 33, of West Valley City; Patrick Bigirmana, 26, from Midvale; and Juvidh Ndabereye, 22, of South Salt Lake, were each charged by the 3rd District Court with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault, both of first degree felonies. The four are also charged with three counts of forced sexual abuse, a felony in the second degree.
Police say a 15-year-old girl met Bigirmana on a dating app and after communicating for a few weeks Bigirmana invited the girl to his home for a reunion he was having with friends. But the girl told police she was worried when she got there because there was no party, only her and the four men were there. in the apartment, according to the prosecution documents.
The girl said that the men then “ordered” her to drink several glasses of alcohol, after which she felt weak. The men then took her to a bedroom, undressed her, and took turns assaulting her. state of charges.
“I was just lying there and couldn’t really move,” the girl told police, according to court documents.
The girl was forced to drink more alcohol and was repeatedly sexually assaulted, according to the charges.
As the girl told the men she had to go to the bathroom, she activated the Life360 app on her phone, designed to share a person’s location in an emergency, and reached out to several friends, according to the charges. The girl then returned to the bedroom and passed out. She woke up to several police officers inside the apartment.
Police noted that the girl appeared weakened and called for an ambulance.
As she was transported to hospital in an ambulance, the girl told an officer, “They raped me” and “I was too weak to push them away. I didn’t want them to hurt me, so I just let them. that, ”the prosecution documents say.
Prosecutors have asked that the four men be held in the Salt Lake County Jail without bond pending trial.
Byuma was also charged on Friday with giving false information to a police officer, a Class C offense.
