The weather will be wet this week in northern Utah, but the weekend should be nice

Expect rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains.

Utahns in the north and central state can expect rain on Tuesday and Wednesday as a storm arrives. And it is expected to snow at higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service, there is an 80% chance of rain in Salt Lake City on Tuesday and through Tuesday evening.

There is also a 30% chance of more rain on Wednesday, mainly before 11 a.m., with temperatures in the 50-degree range. There could be more rain Wednesday night – a 20% chance. There is also a 20% chance of precipitation before 11 a.m. on Veterans Day, with highs near 50.

The forecast calls for snow in the mountains from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning. Slippery and muddy roads are likely to be found in the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains, Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, and Bald Mountain Pass, all of which could receive 5 to 8 inches of snow, according to the weather service. And the Bear River Range, Logan Summit, and Monte Cristo Peak could be 2-4 inches.

The forecast for Salt Lake City this weekend is looking better – mostly sunny with temperatures below 50 on Friday and above 50 on Saturday and Sunday.

The forecast for southern Utah is only fair this week. The weather will be mostly sunny Tuesday, then fully sunny Wednesday through Sunday, with temperatures between 70 and 70 degrees.
