Utah Dive bounces on Day 2 of Texas Dive Invitation

AUSTIN, Texas– Senior Tony chen and junior redshirt Luke McDivitt bounced back from his performance yesterday and earned a berth in the 3m final on Friday night.

“I had a feeling we were going to bounce back and have a really good day today and the team didn’t disappoint,” head coach Richard marschner noted. “I can’t stress enough how tough the competition is here and we prove that we belong to the blue bloods of diving. I’m proud of our efforts and can’t wait to end with a great platform event.”

In the prelims, Chen and McDivitt presented dives that earned them scores of 353.55 and 348.95, respectively. In the final, Chen placed seventh with a score of 371.60, while McDivitt finished just behind in eighth with a score of 334.20.

First-year student Ben smyth scored a best college 306.70 and junior Jenner pennock totaled 267.45 points.

Junior Lizzy DeCecco led the women and narrowly missed the pursuit of the 1m final on Friday night, finishing 10e with a best score of the season 264.00. First-year student Holly waxman placed three places behind in 13e (253.40).

Second year Hannah truax scored 215.75 points and junior Lexi mills got 214.25 per 1 m.

The Utes will close the competition today at the Texas Diving Invitational with platform events. The day will start with the female platform at 9:30 a.m. MT and end with the male platform at 12:25 p.m. MT. Both events can be streamed live on the Longhorn Network.
