NORTH OGDEN, Utah, April 8, 2022 (Gephardt Daily) — Emergency crews and a medical helicopter were dispatched to the scene of an accident late Thursday night on the North Ogden Divide.
The accident, at 1500 E. North Ogden Canyon Road, happened around 9:30 p.m. The road was closed to make way for heavy rescue teams to bring the injured from the hill.
Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Horton told the Gephardt Daily the vehicle crashed into the side of the mountain and then rolled about 100 feet.
The occupants of the vehicle, a man and a woman, aged 20 and 19, had to be extricated. One of them, in critical condition, was taken to hospital by helicopter. The other was transported in a stable condition by ambulance. Horton did not say which of the two was seriously injured.
Witnesses told officials the vehicle was traveling at high speed, Horton said. The accident is still under investigation and it has not yet been determined whether other factors were involved.
In addition to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, the North View and Weber Fire Departments responded to the scene.
Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
